The ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme is unknown to a large number of people in Ghana and the sub-region, in spite of the tremendous benefits it provides to the traveling motorists, especially those who travel beyond their national borders, and victims of cross border accidents.
This website, therefore, provides a platform that enables patrons and users of the site, as well as the general public, acquire knowledge and gain information about the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme and the Ghana National Bureau, which is the Scheme’s secretariat in Ghana. Ghana National Bureau
The Ghana National Bureau of the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme was established under ECOWAS Protocol A/PI/5/82 to handle claims arising from international motor traffic accidents within the sub-region in addition to the issuance of Brown Cards to the motor underwriting companies. It was registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee under the Companies Act 1963 (Act179) on June 1, 1987.
ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme (EBCIS)
The ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme is established on the Protocol of the free movement of persons and goods across national boundaries of ECOWAS Member States. The Brown Card Insurance Scheme serves as a common insurance cover against Third Party liabilities that visiting motorists may incur while the drive across the various national boundaries of ECOWAS
