“The ECOWAS Brown Card Bureau in Ghana plays a very vital role in the implementation of the ECOWAS Trade Protocol on the free movement of goods, persons and vehicles along the major trade corridors. Since the Ghana office was opened in 1988, the ECOWAS BROWN CARD Bureau has played a very important role in trade facilitation and in the realization of the ECOWAS Inter-State Trade and Transport Protocol (ISTR).

The Ghana National Bureau of ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme remains a key partner in the promotion of trade and investment in the ECOWAS sub-region.

The Bureau issues Brown Cards for trade vehicles that travel across the Ghana borders through the local motor insurance companies.

As an independent agency, representing local insurers and other National Bureaux of ECOWAS member states, the Bureau also ensures the quick resolution and administration of trade vehicles involved in accidents, including knockdowns both within and outside Ghana.

The Ghana Shippers Authority considers very crucial, its partnership and working relationship with the Ghana National Bureau of the ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme in driving the agenda of the realization of the free movement of goods, people and vehicles for socio-economic development within the West African Sub-region.”
