In West Africa, road corridors are important developmental infrastructure in promoting trade, supporting regional economic growth and enhancing regional integration. We recognize that the efforts to remove trade barriers on these road corridors has contributed to growth in trade and consequently an increase in truck traffic volumes. Al increase in the number of trucks on the road however also has the propensity to lead to an increase in the number of road traffic accidents.
The ECOWAS Brown Card is a critical political commitment to an effective response by West Africa governments and businesses to address the issue of accidents on our trade corridors. We believe that the increase in business activities and movement across West African borders further emphasizes the importance of ECOWAS Brown Card for the benefits of the citizens. Borderless Alliance takes pride in our collaboration with the Ecowas Brown Card Secretariat over the years, aimed at educating and sensitizing truck drivers on road safety and proper utilization of the Ecowas Brown Card to benefit from the many benefits it offers. The ECOWAS Brown Card reflects effective integration of best insurance practices for facilitated trade in West Africa.
